  • Algeria, 2018-2021. Training middle school and high school English inspectors to deliver teacher training. Focus on improving teaching of speaking and writing, especially for STEM-track students; and receptive skills (reading and listening. 2020-2021 sessions were conducted online.
  • Tunis, Bizerte, Sfax, and Djerba, Tunisia, November 2016. Workshops for in-service teachers and MA students on teaching writing, classroom management, and business English.
  • Tripoli and Zliten, Libya, February 2013. Workshops on writing skills, teaching integrated skills courses, and classroom management.
  • Sana'a, Yemen, September-October 2010 and February 2011. Curriculum development and advising, teacher training, and general support for the Yemen-America Language Institute, as an English Language Specialist for the U.S. Department of State. Also provided outreach and support for area ELT programs.
  • Misurata, Benghazi, and Tripoli, Libya, October 2009. Workshops in ELT methodology and methods for the Graduate Academy, as an English Language Specialist for the U.S. Department of State.
  • Batna, Algeria, July 3 – 18, 2009. Training workshops in the competency-based approach for Algerian middle school English inspectors, for World Learning (Brattleboro, VT).
  • Tripoli, Libya, April 3 – 18, 2009. Workshops in ELT methodology and methods for Libyan universities and private language schools, as an English Language Specialist for the U.S. Department of State.

  • Fullerton, California, January 26, 2008. Full-day workshop for CATESOL Orange County on teaching writing.
  • East Lansing, Michigan, October 12, 2007. Full-day workshop for the Michigan ESL Professional Advisory Committee on teaching writing and meeting standards for adult ed ESL programs.
  • Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, 1998 – 2001. Periodic workshops at Central Michigan University for the Writing Center staff on coping with international students’ writing, the College of Business Administration faculty on intercultural awareness, and incoming international students in the MBA program.

Gave teacher-training workshops on teaching skills, using coursebooks, teaching writing, communicative activities, and classroom management for at various locations, as an English Language Specialist for the U.S. Department of State.
  • Lviv, Ukraine, April 2003. A variety of teacher-training workshops to ESL faculty at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
